RACE INFO

Location:  The Wakarusa Off-Road Challenge will take place on the Levee and River Trails in Lawrence, Kansas. These trails are legendary for being smooth and fast with just the right amount of hairpin turns and berms. Racer will also be paddling on the Kansas River! Race Headquarters (Start / Finish) will be located near the 8th Street Trailhead and Boat Ramp. Please view the map below and click the placemark on the map to get directions to the Race Start.

Dates and Times:  The Wakarusa Off-Road Challenge will start at 8:00AM on Saturday, September 10th. Racer check-in will be held on Friday evening and Saturday morning. If at all possible, we recommend that you check-in on Friday evening to help save us and yourselves some time on race morning. Friday evening check-in will take place at Sunflower Outdoor and Bike in Lawrence from 4:00PM until 6:30PM. We will be located upstairs by the climbing wall. Their address is 804 Massachusetts Street, Lawrence, KS. Their phone number is 785-843-5000. Racer check-in will also be taking place the morning of the race at our Race Headquarters at the River Trails trailhead from 6:30AM until 7:30AM. It is required that all racers check-in before the race. Team members are not required to check-in together, but ALL racers must check-in before the start of the race!

Divisions:  The race is only open to 75 solo racers and 75 2-person teams (any combination of co-ed, male, female). Solo racers are required to bring their own boat to the race. 2-Person teams have the option of bringing their own boat to the race or paying an extra $20 dollars per racer to use a canoe provided by Bonk Hard Racing. 2-PERSON TEAMS ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO USE CANOES DURING THE RACE!   2-Person teams will start and finish the race together and are required to stay within 50 feet of each other at all times during the race.

Race Fees:

	Early Registration (ends at 10:59PM CT on July 15th):	$50 / racer
	Regular Registration (ends at 10:59PM CT on August 12th):	$60 / racer
	Late Registration (after August 12th):	$70 / racer
* Registration will close at 11:59PM CT on September 4th.
* Once 75 soloists register or 75 2-Person teams register, that division will automatically close on the online registration form.

* A minimum of 20 racers in the Solo Male division are required in order to receive cash prizes in the Solo Male division. A minimum of 20 racers in the Solo Female division are required in order to receive cash prizes in the Solo Female division.

** The free and discounted entry certificates can be applied towards any Bonk Hard Racing event (including next year's Wakarusa Off-Road Challenge) and does not expire.

* There must be a minimum of 15 teams in your division in order for a cash prize to be awarded. If there are not 15 teams in your division, no cash prize will be awarded for that division, and you will receive prizes from our sponsors instead of cash.

** The free and discounted entry certificates will be awarded to each individual racer on the team (not the team as a whole) and can be applied towards any Bonk Hard Racing event (including next year's Wakarusa Off-Road Challenge). The discounted entry certificates do not have an expiration date.

Awards Ceremonies:  There will be an awards ceremony at 12:00PM at Race Headquarters. Food and refreshments will be provided for all racers after the race. Racers eligible for prizes must be present at the Awards Ceremony in order to receive them unless prior arrangements have been made with the race director.

Refunds and Substitutions:  No refunds will be given to teams or racers that can not make the race. You will be allowed to transfer your entry to other racers in the event that you can no longer make the event. If you are transferring your entry to another team or racer, you must notify the race staff of this change and provide all of the information about the new racer(s) to the race staff at a minimum of 48 hours before the start of the race.

Rain / Weather Reschedule:  In the event that the weather is too treacherous to host the race, for whatever reason, the race will be rescheduled to September 17th. There will be no refunds given in the event that you are unable to make the race on the reschedule date for any reason.

Support Crew & Spectators:  The Wakarusa Off-Road Challenge will be an unsupported race and no support person(s) will be allowed in the Transition Area or on the course. However, spectators, friends and family are more than welcome to come to the race and watch the race from the Race Headquarters area. The course itself is off-limits to all non-racers, and only race staff and volunteers will be allowed on the course during the race.

Volunteers:  The Wakarusa Challenge is looking for some good volunteers! All volunteers will get the satisfaction of helping out with an exciting new event as well as receive a free race shirt, food before and after the event and a 50% off any Bonk Hard Racing discount certificate (that can be used by anyone)! If you have friends and family that plan on coming to the race, have them volunteer and be a part of the action! It's a great way for them to get involved in this fun race, and if they don't plan on using the discounted entry certificates, it would be a great way for you to save some money on a future Bonk Hard Racing event!
