07/28/2009 - RESULTS POSTED; THANK YOU!

First and foremost, a HUGE congratulations to all of the racers that came to Lake Perry and raced in the Dusk 2 Dawn adventure race this past weekend! We hope you had a great time and a heck of an adventure! The course turned out to be a little more difficult than anticipated, and all of you did a fantastic job at the race! A very special congratulations goes out to all the first time racers that attempted a night race as your first adventure race as well (especially one as tough as this)!

Congratulations to Jeff Sona, Carrie Sona, David Frei and Doug Nishimura of the team Alpine Shop for being the first team to cross the finish line and to Eric Buckley of Carol's Team, the first soloist to cross the finish line and first place overall. A job very well done to all of you! Also, congratulations to all of the top teams in each division!

07/24/2009 - PRE-RACE UPDATE

Hello Dusk 2 Dawn Adventure Racers!

We have (what we feel) is a fantastic course set up for the race this weekend and we hope you're as excited as we are about the race! We apologize for the last minute update, but we wanted to let everyone know that you will be canoeing with your bikes at the race (except soloists - we will be transporting your gear). Please make sure that you bring a tie down system to attach your bikes to the canoes. You MUST have your bikes securely attached to the canoes before you will be allowed to start the paddling leg. It is up to you on how you would like to secure them (rope, bungee cords, etc.), but the volunteers will not allow you to start paddling until they see that your bikes are securely attached. Thanks!

Also, it's July, so you know what that means...ticks will be out and about this weekend. Please plan on brining some insect / tick repellent AND USING IT during the race! Deet is highly recommended. You've been warned. Also, you may want to bring some pants to wear during the trekking sections of the race. Typically you are supposed to wear light-colored clothing to help avoid ticks.

During the paddling leg, all racers must have a chem light (glow stick) attached to their PFD as well as on the bow and stern of the canoe. For two and four person teams, that means each racer should have 2 chem lights (per the required gear). Soloists should have 3 chem lights. Please make sure you have all of the required gear. There WILL be gear checks on the course!

Currently, there is no rain in the forecast for Saturday night and it's supposed to be a very comfortable low of about 68 degrees! You just can't beat that for a race in the middle of July. We have another great breakfast lined up for everyone on Sunday morning, and I am super excited about the shirts. We're looking forward to seeing you this weekend, and please drive safely to the race!

05/17/2009 - Registration open for Dusk 2 Dawn adventure race

Registration is open for the Dusk 2 Dawn adventure race, to be held on July 25-26th at Perry Lake, KS. This will be the last year of the Dusk 2 Dawn at Perry Lake, and you will not want to miss this brand new course in a brand new area! Early registration is open until June 19th, so get your team together and join us for this mid-summer classic!
