07/28/2010 - THANK YOU TO ALL THE RACERS, VOLUNTEERS AND SPONSORS OF THE DUSK 2 DAWN ADENTURE RACE!

Bonk Hard Racing would like to thank all of the racers that came to the Dusk 2 Dawn this past weekend and raced in this fun night time race! We hope you had a great time at the race! We have posted the results and plan to have the Split Times posted very soon.

Congratulations to Jeff Sona, Carrie Sona, David Frei and Doug Nishimura of the team Alpine Shop for being the first team to cross the finish line! Also, congratulations to all of the top teams in each division! A job very well done. Even if you didn't win your division, you should always remember that adventure racing is first and foremost about going out with friends and having a good time, and we hope you all did that.

A VERY HUGE THANK YOU goes out to all of the volunteers that joined us at the race this weekend! Without your help the race would not have been possible and we are very grateful. You all did a fantastic job and we hope to see you again in the future (whether racing or volunteering).

07/22/2010 - PRE-RACE UPDATE

Hello Dusk 2 Dawn Adventure Racers!

We hope you are all getting excited about the Dusk 2 Dawn adventure race on Saturday night! Perry Lake is at about maximum capacity with water, and most of the boat ramps are completely submerged and roads are closed due to the high water. This has forced us to change the course completely in the past few days! We thought the water would have receded by now, but the Perry Lake and surrounding area has continued to receive rain and it looks like the lake level is going to stay at near-record levels for the race this weekend. We have an excellent course set up though and we should be able to work around it.

It's July, so you know what that means...ticks will be out and about this weekend. Please plan on brining some insect / tick repellent AND USING IT during the race! Deet is highly recommended. You've been warned. Also, poison ivy is thick this year. You may want to bring some pants (or zip-off trekking pants or gaiters) to wear during the trekking sections of the race.

During the paddling leg, all racers must have a chem light (glow stick) attached to their PFD as well as on the bow and stern of the canoe. For two and four person teams, that means each racer should have 2 chem lights (per the required gear). Please make sure you have all of the required gear. There WILL be gear checks on the course again this year!

*** IMPORTANT: THE EAST LAWRENCE EXIT (Exit #204 with access to Hwy. 24 from Lawrence) IS CLOSED AT I-70! IF YOU WILL BE GOING I-70 WEST TO GET TO THE RACE, PLEASE PLAN ON USING THE LECOMPTON EXIT (EXIT #197) ON THE WEST SIDE OF LAWRENCE!! ***

There will be a bike drop for all racers before the start of the race. Please plan on arriving before the 7PM race registration cutoff in order to give yourself time to drop off your team's bikes and bike gear. The bike drop is not far away from Race Headquarters, and should only take you about 15 - 20 minutes round trip. We will give you directions and also what is allowed to be dropped off at this location when you check in to the race. The bike drop will open at 6PM. Instead of starting racer check-in at 3PM, we have delayed it one hour and racer check-in will now start at 4PM, and it will stay open until 7PM like originally planned.

The Dusk 2 Dawn is a part of the Checkpoint Tracker Adventure Racing Series. We will not have a live leaderboard for this race, but all teams will receive points in the Series IF you register for the Series and add the Dusk 2 Dawn race to your schedule! Thank you to everyone that has already done this. If you are racing this weekend, and if you would like points for your team, please visit their website, register, and add the Dusk 2 Dawn race to your team's schedule. It's easy and free. If you're not interested in receiving points in the Checkpoint Tracker Series then you need to do nothing. Thanks.

Please keep an eye on the weather forecast for race night, and come prepared for whatever weather we have. It's been a crazy year for weather this year, so I'm not about to say it looks good or bad right now because it could change by tomorrow morning!

We have another fantastic breakfast lined up for everyone on Sunday morning with pancakes, bacon, eggs, etc.! This year's race is set up a little different than previous year's races, so it should be different and fun! Please drive carefully on Saturday and let us know if you have any questions beforehand. 03/29/2010 - REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR THE DUSK 2 DAWN ADVENTURE RACE!

The Dusk 2 Dawn is BACK and registration is officially open! This fun adventure race will be held on July 24-25th at Perry Lake, KS. Start making plans today and get your team signed up for this mid-summer classic! Enjoy adventure racing in the summer by racing at night! Join us in July at the 5th running of the Dusk 2 Dawn adventure race!
